Welcome to the PASTEUR4OA website! 

PASTEUR4OA (Open Access Policy Alignment Strategies for European Union Research) aims to support the European Commission’s Recommendation to Member States of July 2012 that they develop and implement policies to ensure Open Access to all outputs from publicly-funded research.  

PASTEUR4OA will help develop and/or reinforce open access strategies and policies at the national level and facilitate their coordination among all Member States. It will build a network of centres of expertise in Member States that will develop a coordinated and collaborative programme of activities in support of policymaking at the national level under the direction of project partners.

  • Update on PASTEUR4OA EE Regional Workshops for RPOs and Funders in Budapest

    More than 50 research funders and representatives of research performing organizations from 10 countries  of Eastern Europe met on October 29-30, 2015 in Hungarian Academy of Sciences (Budapest) to revisit the Horizon 2020 Open Access (OA) mandate, examine OA policy developments in Europe, and learn from the best practices in OA policy development and implementation at the national, funder and institutional levels.   • Update on PASTEUR4OA SE Regional Workshop for RPOs in Athens

    EKT organized on November 3rd, 2015 the first South-East Europe Workshop. Participants included policymakers from RPOs in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia and FYROM. Presentations and subsequent discussions, allowed participants to familiarize themselves with the concept of Open Access, the European framework, and the elements required for an institutional policy to be effective and to exchange ideas and share their (common) concerns in relation to the challenges related to the adoption of Open Access policies in their institutions.   • Update on the SW Europe funders' PASTEUR regional workshop in Madrid

    On September 28th, 2015, FECYT hosted a full-day workshop for Research Funders of the SW Region (including Portugal, Spain, Malta and Italy), organized by PASTEUR4OA.

    The 20 attendees represented relevant national research funder’s, including the National Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) from Portugal, the National Research Council (CSIC) and the Ministry for Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) from Spain; the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) and finally, the National Research Council (CNR) from Italy.

  • PASTEUR4OA Data Visualisations on Open Access Policies Worldwide

    As part of the work to develop advocacy materials related to Open Access the PASTEUR4OA project have created a series of data visualisations using data from ROARMAP. ROARMAP, or the Registry of Open Access Repository Mandates and Policies, is a searchable international registry charting the growth of Open Access mandates adopted by universities, research institutions and research funders.

  • South East Europe Meeting for Research Funders, April 2016

    The second Regional Workshop of South East Europe will take place in Istanbul on 1 April 2016. The workshop (by invitation only) will welcome research funders from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria, FYROM, Serbia and Turkey. As this is a group of countries in the process of developing Open Access policies, the workshop will assist them in the formulation of Open Access policies aligned with Horizon 2020 and the European Commission 2012 recommendation through presentations and group work.   • North Europe Meeting os Research Performing Organisations and Research Funders, March 2016

    The Key Nodes of the Nordic region will host a workshop in collaboration with NordForsk and the Nordic Council of Ministers in Copenhagen on the 17th of March 2016. The workshop is aimed at research funders and  the major universities and research preforming institutions from the Nordic countries.

    The purpose of the workshop is to provide a forum for discussion of Open Access and Open Data policies, alignment and monitoring. It will also act as a meeting place for research funders and institutions.
