Welcome to the PASTEUR4OA website! 

PASTEUR4OA (Open Access Policy Alignment Strategies for European Union Research) aims to support the European Commission’s Recommendation to Member States of July 2012 that they develop and implement policies to ensure Open Access to all outputs from publicly-funded research.  

PASTEUR4OA will help develop and/or reinforce open access strategies and policies at the national level and facilitate their coordination among all Member States. It will build a network of centres of expertise in Member States that will develop a coordinated and collaborative programme of activities in support of policymaking at the national level under the direction of project partners.

  • Update on PASTEUR4OA SE Regional Workshop for RPOs in Athens

    EKT organized on November 3rd, 2015 the first South-East Europe Workshop. Participants included policymakers from RPOs in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Bulgaria, Serbia and FYROM. Presentations and subsequent discussions, allowed participants to familiarize themselves with the concept of Open Access, the European framework, and the elements required for an institutional policy to be effective and to exchange ideas and share their (common) concerns in relation to the challenges related to the adoption of Open Access policies in their institutions.   • Update on the SW Europe funders' PASTEUR regional workshop in Madrid

    On September 28th, 2015, FECYT hosted a full-day workshop for Research Funders of the SW Region (including Portugal, Spain, Malta and Italy), organized by PASTEUR4OA.

    The 20 attendees represented relevant national research funder’s, including the National Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) from Portugal, the National Research Council (CSIC) and the Ministry for Economy and Competitiveness (MINECO) from Spain; the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) and finally, the National Research Council (CNR) from Italy.

  • PASTEUR4OA Data Visualisations on Open Access Policies Worldwide

    As part of the work to develop advocacy materials related to Open Access the PASTEUR4OA project have created a series of data visualisations using data from ROARMAP. ROARMAP, or the Registry of Open Access Repository Mandates and Policies, is a searchable international registry charting the growth of Open Access mandates adopted by universities, research institutions and research funders.

  • The development of the policy on open access to scientific results in Lithuania has begun

    On July 8, 2015 the Research Council of Lithuania held a seminar "Policies on Open Access to Scientific Results: Present Day Situation and Future Goals". This marks the beginning of the series of discussions and open consultations in the country with the aim to develop the policy on Open Access to scientific publications and data in Lithuania.



  • South East Europe Meeting for Policymakers of Research Institutions

    EKT announces the workshop “Open Access Policies for Research Institutions” that will take place on the 3rd of November 2015 in Athens, Greece, in the context of the PASTEUR4OA project. This will be one of the many regional workshops addressed to policymakers across Europe and aimed at stimulating the development of open access policies that are aligned with the 2012 EC Recommendation and the Horizon 2020 programme.

    The Eastern European Meeting of Research Funders and Research Performing Organizations “Working Together to Promote Open Access Policy Alignment in Europe” will take place on 29-30 October, 2015 in Budapest, Hungary. The meeting is organised by the PASTEUR4OA project and will be hosted by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
